And so the journey begins... Part 3

Starting weight on 1/1/17: 356 lbs.

Current weight on 2/19/17: 324.5 lbs.

Down 31.5 pounds since the start of the new year! I have a bad habit of jumping on the scale every single day. This is something you're not supposed to do. I know better than that, yet still do it for some reason. After doing well last week, I feel like I hit a wall this week. By the time Saturday rolled around though, I was down 3.5 lbs, so I'll take it. Take a look at the journey this week:

Monday morning: Thrive vanilla shake with a banana
Lunch: Deli chicken with lettuce & olive oil Mayo on gluten-free bread and a red grapes.
Dinner: Courtney made a really good fajita bowl with Uncle Ben's Whole Grain & Wild Rice, and a bit of sour cream on top. She offered to use gluten-free tortillas, but I honestly don't care for them. The fajita mixture served on top of brown rice was plenty!

Tuesday was the exact same thing from top to bottom, with the exception of having a half a bag of Sriracha cashews.

Wednesday morning: Thrive chocolate shake
Lunch: Salad with shredded carrots, grape tomatoes, a serving of Hidden Valley Ranch, and some deli chicken.
Dinner: Courtney struck gold again, making homemade jambalya with chopped up chicken breast, chicken sausage, and veggies served on top of riced cauliflower.
Late night: So here's the thing... when I wake up in the middle of the night, I tend to want snack. Part of the reason for waking up so much is I drink water all night. I should probably start cutting off the water around 9pm. When it feels like you have the bladder of a small child, the combination just doesn't work! At one point, I had some peanuts, a blueberry Nutri-grain bar, and a few pepperonis. Eating after midnight, not part of the plan!

Thursday was the exact same thing as Wednesday. The exception is, I didn't snack in the middle of the night. I did polish off those Sriracha cashews earlier in the evening.

Friday morning: Thrive chocolate shake
Lunch: I had leftover jambalya, sans the cauliflower rice. I was still a bit hungry and ran to the gas station to get a small bag of Planters hot peanuts. Nuts (in moderation) are technically approved on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with the plan we're following. Mid-Afternoon: A beef stick
Dinner: We went to a Euchre party and tacos were on the menu. I had taco meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and a side of brown rice & beans, and a side of refried beans that had some cheese on top.
Late Night: Had a craving for junk apparently, but sought out something that wasn't totally bad; a bag of Combos buffalo style.

Saturday morning: Thrive chocolate shake

After sitting at home a bit, I made a decision. Time to get off my butt and hit the gym. I became a member of Peak Performance in Indianapolis several months ago because I get a tremendous discount through work. Walking at a fast pace, I put in 3 miles on the treadmill in just under an hour, and followed up with a bit of chest and shoulder excercises.

Lunch: Holy cow! I was starving by the time I got back home. A small salad with shredded carrots, a few grape tomatoes, and a serving of ranch cured that! Dinner: We celebrated our Valentine's Day with a nice dinner at Harry & Izzy's. I had the shrimp cocktail for an app. That cocktail sauce is FIRE and a heck of a way to clear out your sinuses!!! I skipped the bread, and had a great 14oz New York Strip done Izzy-style (rolled in peppercorn w/brandy butter sauce), and a side of green beans and sauteed mushrooms. What a great meal!
Late night: I ended up having a craving for junk again and had a small bag of a Sriracha Cheez-It mix.

Sunday morning: Thrive vanilla shake w/a tablespoon of PB2
Lunch: Culver's orginal butterburger w/ketchup, mustard, a bit of mayo, pickles, lettuce, and tomato and a gluten-free bun, and a small side salad with ranch.
Dinner: Courtney has a pot roast cooking in the pressure cooker right now with carrots, onions, green peppers, red peppers, and radishes. Yeah, radishes. She subs that for potatoes and I assure you, you can't tell a difference! The radishes take on the flavor of everything else and that bitter radish taste goes away!

So the end result is down a couple of pounds since last week. I found a beginner's workout program that I'm going to start attempting tomorrow before work, so wish me luck! By the way, when I mention what I ate this week, I'm not saying "Hey look, I can screw up and still lose weight!" Nope. I'm not saying that all. I'm simply showing all of you that yeah, I still slip up here and there. I don't recommend it, but I'm being honest. I don't want everything to think that I'm eating perfectly, because I'm not. I hope to get better about it as the weeks go on. I can say though that I didn't have a Pepsi this week. I haven't had one in about a week and a half. Woo-hoo!
